Pumpkin for Dogs

There are some tasty treats for dog’s and among tasty and nutritious treats is pumpkin!  However, when you are adding pumpkin to the animal’s diet, make sure it is not pumpkin pie filling as it does have added sugars and spices which the dog should not consume.

Feeding pumpkin to dog’s that are overweight is a great means to help the animal slim.  Canned pumpkin for dogs can replace 1/3 of your dog’s food and is a great source of potassium, beta carotene and vitamin A.  To help preserve the life of the pumpkin it can be placed in ice cube trays and frozen.
Because pumpkin is high in fiber and water, it is a great aid to help relieve constipation as well.  For dog’s that are vomiting, it is also a great means to stop vomiting.  Simply feed your dog one teaspoon for small dogs and for medium to large dogs, two teaspoons to a tablespoon.
