my dogs get dental chews from the vets office (made by Virbec) They also get regular dentals when needed and for the most part eat only dry food :)

Honestly, I'm so bad about brushing my pups teeth. It is something that I'm trying to get better about. I do give them CET dental chews as well as flossies and other chews. I have LebaIII and another dental spray, but my two hate I spray them in their months. I would love to find a spray that they don't mind to supplement with brushing. A spray alone doesn't seem like enough to me.

I try to brush her teeth every night before bed. Some nights I'm so tired I forget, but I try to make it a priority. I know its quite expensive to have a dental cleaning or have teeth removed so I want to try and avoid it. I haven't given her any dental chews yet but plan on getting some soon since she loves to chew on things.

Melissa-

I just ordered some dental products that you add to the food, as both mine (and the cat) don't like the sprays, which when I do do something, that is what I use.

I will use it for a while with Duke and post an update on Facebook.

Luckily, Piper likes to chew, so her teeth are pretty good still where as Duke never liked to chew on ANYTHING, so he could use some help.

We use bully sticks and dental chews, but I think it is most important to brush regularly. We brush their teeth nightly. Two nights per week we brush with the Petzlife gel, and the other nights we brush with a poultry-flavored enzymatic toothpaste. So far neither of my pups has needed dentals (knock on wood), so it is worth the bit of extra effort to us! Once you make it part of a routine, it really takes maybe a minute total to brush their teeth. At one point I used the Oxyfresh toothpaste (no flavor) and an additive to their water, but I noticed no difference whatsoever, so I returned to the poultry toothpate that Rory loves.

I just started buying dental chews and Bentley loves them. His vet says he has great teeth, most likely because he LOVES to chew and always has bones or rawhides! mmstras@yahoo.com

I use an enzymatic dog tooth paste to brush their teeth. Our vet says it helps and that friction is not necessary with the enzymatic paste, just to have contact w/ the teeth. The dogs love the chicken flavor, too!

We use a dental spray. Two of my girls are real good at letting me spray it in their mouths, but one of them resists it a lot. I also give them dental chews on a regular basis. They absolutely love their antler chews and himilayan chews. I am not the best at brushing their teeth every day, but I do get it done a couple times a week.

There's an additive we put in their water, plus teeth cleanings at the vet.
