Gardening for your Dog

With the Spring planting season right around the corner for many of us, growing food to support your human family is a very special, bonding, and healthy thing to do. But are you thinking about your pets? Many people give their dog fruits and vegetables as treats. If you were able to grow them yourself, you would not only save money, but you were know what goes on it. Not all fruits and vegetables are safe for dogs. Below is a sample list of fruits and vegetables that are safe and not safe for your dog.

Healthy and Good for your Dog:
  • asparagus
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • cantaloupe
  • carrots
  • celery
  • cucumber
  • green beans
  • lettuce
  • peas
  • cooked potatoes
  • pumpkin (great for upset stomachs)
  • spinach
  • squash
  • watermelon- seedless is best
Unhealthy and Dangerous for your Dog:
  • avocado
  • aloe vera
  • eggplant
  • garlic
  • grapes (raisins)
  • mushrooms
  • nutmeg
  • onion
  • potato (plant parts)
  • rhubarb
  • tomato
